05.01.10 JJ Food Service, the UK’s leading food service delivery and collection provider, has selected Realex Payments to support its transition from cash payments upon delivery to online orders and payments.

JJ Food Service was founded in 1989 and now has five distribution sites in the UK, employing more than 720 people.    Until recently, for up to 90 percent of orders, JJ Food drivers would collect the cash payments from customers upon delivery.  This not only created an obvious security risk to the drivers, who would have to carry larger and larger quantities of cash with them throughout the day, but meant that JJ Food was also exposed to other risks and burdens associated with processing large amounts of cash payments.   Addressing this situation, JJ Food has transitioned away from cash on delivery by selecting Realex Payments to process all delivery order payments online.

“The decision to work with Realex Payments was easy.  It was the only company that offered the exact support and security that we needed and was able to implement the service in the time frame that we required,” said Khaled Zobair, financial controller at JJ Food Service.  “Realex also offers us a great support network.  We always deal directly with our dedicated account manager who offers best practice advice, online consultancy and statistical analysis of our sales figures. These extras, combined with the reliability of the service, have led to an extremely smooth transition for us from cash to online payments.”

“Across all industries, customers now expect to be able to shop - and pay - online.” said Colm Lyon, founder and CEO of Realex Payments.  “This trend, combined with the amount of orders that JJ Food is currently processing, means that an online payments strategy is the only reliable and secure set-up for the company.  JJ Food has not only removed the risk from dealing with cash payments, but has also made the entire process of ordering and paying for goods far more convenient for its own customers.”
